3 May 2016 – Drive loops in Halali area, Etosha
The area around Halali has little diversity. It is ‘savannah’, where you can’t see much
from your vehicle, or you can reach the pan where you can see for miles. We saw gemsbok walking on the pan; ‘miles’
out! We drove some of the loops and a saw many animals.
We went back to the camp and to the waterhole. This
time elephants came to drink. Quite a few young ones and even babies. When we
arrived, there was a group of 12, five
of them left and then we saw 11 coming
from the bushes and join the other. The elephants were the only animals that
worked out where the water inlet pipe is and ‘only’ drank there. One even walked backed after the herd started
leaving the hole, to drink from that site again, as the water is of much better
quality here.
Trees are nicer than elephants. |
